This collection includes tools created by NIDILRR grantees for conducting research and development. They include surveys, checklists, needs assessments, measurement devices, and other tools, including engineering related tools.

About the Tools Collection.

The Tools Collection forms part of NIDILRR's Knowledge Translation (KT) initiative. KT applies the processes of identifying, evaluating, capturing, enhancing, and sharing NIDILRR's applied research information on disability and rehabilitation research. Based on the FY 2002 and 2003 Performance Reports, 71 projects reported having created and/or utilized tools. A tool is defined here as "an instrument or process created, in whole or part using NIDILRR funding, to acquire quantitative or qualitative information, knowledge, or data on a specific disability or rehabilitation issue." This includes checklists, survey instruments, assessment scales, questionnaires, evaluative software, and interview schedules designed for specific disabilities. Grantees can submit new tools to this collection through their project record in the Grantee Information Management section.
