NARIC news:

We recently added the 90,000th journal article to the NARIC collection. NARIC's collection grows by more than 3,000 items per year. Most of our acquisitions are journal articles detailing research and development across the spectrum of disability and rehabilitation. We also recently added the 23,000th item to our Original Research collection, which houses reports, manuals, guides, and other publications from NIDILRR-funded projects and disability research funded by other agencies, organizations, and research groups. This collection represents more than 70 years of disability and rehabilitation research, all of which is indexed in our REHABDATA database. You can sign up for monthly updates to stay on top of new acquisitions free at naric.com. It is an honor to be stewards of this important resource.

This Just In:
COVID-19: Factors predicting depressive symptoms in people aging with long-term physical disabilities. OTJR: Occupation, Participation and Health. NARIC Accession Number: J90112.
New to the NARIC collection, this NIDILRR-funded study identified the factors associated with depressive symptoms and explored their relative importance in predicting depressive symptoms in people with long-term physical disabilities (PwLTPD) early in the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Researchers analyzed data collected from community-dwelling middle-aged adults with physical disability for at least 5 years. Anxiety was the most important predictor. Higher levels of anxiety, loneliness, and financial stress; prior diagnosis of depression; and non-Black race predicted a higher level of depressive symptoms in PwLTPD during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Occupational therapy practitioners should strategically acknowledge predictors of depression that cannot be modified and actively address those that can be modified through evidence-based interventions to improve depressive symptoms in PwLTPD. Access the full abstract and ordering information in REHABDATA.
