Abstract: Explores the relationship between patients' knowledge and attitudes about myocardial infarction and their compliance with physicians' recommendations about diet, smoking, medications and stress. Patients participated in an educational program conducted by a clinical nurse specialist and supported by medical staff. Suggests trying several approaches before and after hospital discharge to inform the patient and spouse in order to increase compliance. Includes form samples and tables.
