Abstract: Investigates evaluation tools for characterizing social research as part of a study of the methodological adequacy of federally funded (SRS) research and demonstration projects. Intended to develop a broad and coherent view of research and to develop tools to evaluate the quality of social research. Presents two evaluation instruments which involved a schedule which systematically organized professional judgment about a project and a self-response questionnaire for professional raters. Includes measurement analysis of a research rating instrument. Appendices include the evaluation tools developed.
