Tamar Heller Receives AUCD International Service Award
Tamar Heller, PhD, principal investigator for the NIDRR-funded Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Aging with Developmental Disabilities Lifespan Health and Function (H133B080009) received the International Service Award from the Association of University Centers on Disabilities. This award recognizes outstanding contributions that further programs or policies designed to create more inclusive communities for people with disabilities and their families throughout the world. The award is given in recognition of professional and personal efforts in program areas that proactively support people with disabilities and their families at local, regional, or national levels in the host country.
Webinar: Setting up and Operating a Voucher Transportation System
The NIDRR-funded Research and Training Center on Disability in Rural Communities (RTC: Rural) (H133B080023) at the University of Montana Rural Institute on Disabilities presents Setting Up and Operating a Voucher Transportation System, a webcast with Tom Seekins, PhD, Director of RTC:Rural, and Bob Olsgard, Transportation Coordinator for North Country Independent Living in Wisconsin. The webcast will take place December 18th, at 11am MST. Registration is free but required. The archived version will be available for future viewing as well.

The Institute of Medicine/National Research Council Forum on Aging, Disability, and Independence (ADI Forum), of which NIDRR is a member, presents a public workshop on Fostering Independence, Participation, and Healthy Aging Through Technology, December 19th, 8:30am EST, at the Keck Center of the National Academies in DC and via webcast.Registration for the webcast is free but required. In-person registration is closed.

The NIDRR-funded Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Secondary Conditions in the Rehabilitation of Individuals with Spinal Cord Injury (H133B090002) quick poll for December focuses on eating habits during the holiday season.
CDC Grand Rounds "Where in Health is Disability?"
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention hosts a live webcast Public Health Grand Rounds session focusing on public health practices to include people with disabilities. The session titled "Where in Health is Disability?" will be webcast December 18th at 1pm EST. No registration is required. Questions can be emailed in advance to email@example.com.
